FAQ
Q: What does the blog title mean?
A: I have no idea. Well, that’s not entirely true. I like to think that I’m terrible at coming up with titles for things – this one came to me out of the blue when I was out on a walk one day. I like it because it sounds wordy and obtuse (I am, if nothing else, a pretentious English major/arts student). My reasoning is that readers will see the title and find that the blog below is exactly the opposite of the title: amateur and vaguely intelligible. At the very least, there’s no other site out there with the name, and it makes me all warm and fuzzy knowing I have a unique title amongst the billions of other sites.
Q: What inspired you to start this blog?
A: I like the idea that the Internet can be a battleground for opinions – just look at the comments section on YouTube videos. Many times a major philosophical debate rages for hundreds of comments underneath a video that is totally unrelated to the argument. Not that I want a similar thing to happen here, but I like that I can square off with people on this blog based on what I think about topics that matter to me.
Q: What do you look for when choosing a “story” to blog about?
A: It’s very random. I try to see and review the newest movies and TV episodes to help people choose good stuff to watch. I like to point out trends in film, television and the Internet and talk about what it means to the average viewer. I also love helping people see the hidden layers in what they watch – too often, viewers miss out on hidden symbols and references that can totally change the experience. Hopefully what I decide to post about will have some larger significance to “society”, but if not, so be it. I simply love to write, and cliches about writing tell you to “write what you know”, so why not share what I write with people?
Q: I hate your pretentious style and wish you’d shut up. Please stop posting.
A: That’s not really a question, but I humbly decline to acquiesce to your request for the cessation of my written contribution to…..I lost the the thread of my eloquent reply. Anyways, if you don’t like the blog, don’t read it. Although be warned – if you do decide to quarrel with me in some sort of angry, aggressive way, you’ll find that I’ll either patiently respond to each criticism with a well-reasoned reply (just to aggravate you), or else ignore you. But thanks!
